Sawgrass results

We had a few brave boats meet to fish the Sawgrass area.  This area is a fresh water fishing area which holds LOTS of bass.  The picture is from Google Earth and captures the ‘feel’ of the canal at the park.  This canal is almost 10 miles in length so there are plenty of places to select for fishing.

The morning was cold and beautiful when the sun rose.  We met at the ramp at 7:00 am so we were ahead of the rush.

Some boats fished the ‘flats’ which are marsh areas off the main canal.  They have an orange flag to let the air boats know they are out there.

Some fished the North/South canal.  Others fished the main East/West canal shown in the photo.

All caught a bunch of fish.  Every now-and-then we would meet another boat while running back-and-forth.

A strong West wind began about 10:30 and was blowing at its peak peak about noon, so fishing became very limited at that point.  Everyone left shortly after noon because of the unfriendly conditions.

Bottom line is the outing was LOTS of fun.  Everyone caught fish.

Hope next month more can join for the Okeechobee trip.  We should be able to find some sheltered places to fish even with typical March winds.
